Case Study
ROPE Process Method
Led by Dr. Samuel Dyer, COM 439:Techniques and Cases in Public Relations Communications at Missouri State University was a course where students deconstructed communication campaigns using the ROPE process method (Research, Objectives, Programming, and Evaluation).
Working with four other students, each was assigned a phase of the ROPE method.
Research involves identifying and learning about the client, the problem or potential problem to be solved, and the audience or public.
Objectives involve the setting of the objectives for a program. The objects can be the influence the client exerts on the audience, such as informing them or modifying their attitudes or behaviors.
The third phase consists of designing the program to accomplish the objectives. It involves the central theme, messages, and various forms of communication aimed at reaching the audiences.
Evaluation examines the practitioner's degree of success in achieving them.
